Exploring the PoolTogether Community
PoolTogether Community Interview #12: Diego Chippi.eth
Welcome to the final PoolTogether Community Interview of 2021 and also our 12th week of the PoolTogether Community Substack!
Or, should I say, the 12th edition of the English language PoolTogether Community Substack. In just three short months, we now have five language versions of the Substack and have now launched the PoolTogether Community Podcast as well.
Today, we will focus on a major contributor to the Portuguese language Substack - Diego Chippi.eth. This interview was originally done in Portuguese and we are bringing this to you in English for the first time.
Diego is directly involved in creating, translating and proofreading our Newsletter in Portuguese on the Substack, translating and proofreading PoolTogether Brasil on Medium, supports the #portugues channel on PoolTogether Discord and teaches about PoolTogether in other communities. He recently participated in a Bankless Brasil DAO live, teaching how to deposit in the version 4 USDC pool
Tell us a little about yourself. Describe yourself in a few words/facts:
Hi! I'm a very curious person who likes technology and finance, although my background and professional performance are completely different from that. 😅
I have a wide range of interests, I love travelling, reading and outdoor activities. I am definitely a person of the day; I have no problem waking up (very) early and it's a big sacrifice for me to stay up late. 🤷♂️
How long have you been using crypto?
The first time I bought crypto, influenced by a good friend, was in 2017. But I have to admit that I had no idea what I was really doing at the time. As I didn't have a deep knowledge or conviction about what cryptocurrencies were or how they worked, I ended up in and out of this world a few times until I decided to dedicate myself, in 2019, to understanding what I was doing.
It was in 2019 that I understood what Ethereum is and at the end of that year I started to dive into the universe of Decentralized Finance.
Can you tell us about the main lessons you've learned since then?
I learned that there is a lot of innovation everywhere in the crypto world, which makes it impossible to try to keep up with everything. Without exaggeration, it can be an exhausting and frustrating task trying to find out everything that is going on in crypto.
So. I filter what interests me and try to keep up with just a few things, knowing that it's okay to miss an opportunity eventually. After all, in crypto, new opportunities arise practically every week.
Well, with that, I believe that a great lesson is that it is never too late to enter this world and that there is always a lot to learn.
What has been your best crypto moment?
It is inevitable not to think about the financial part when I think about the best moment… After all, some projects I invested in ended up giving a better return than my most optimistic expectations, which was very good. But lately, it's become increasingly clear to me that my best moment was when I started engaging with the community.
Whoever is in crypto only for the financial part has to have a lot of emotional control to withstand the rollercoaster of emotions that the market goes through in short periods of time. On the other hand, the community is always around!
A few months ago, when I entered the Brazilian communities of PoolTogether and BanklessBR I think I found my place! People are very receptive and always ready to help. That's why I believe my best moment in crypto was when I joined these communities, which really broadened my horizons in terms of crypto.
And your biggest fail?
It was definitely not having dedicated myself to learning and understanding what crypto was back in 2017, when I bought my first bit of Bitcoin.
The second biggest failure was that it took too long to engage with any community, like the one we have here with PoolTogether in Brazil.
How did you discover PoolTogether?
I found out about PoolTogether in late 2019, watching a YouTube video about DeFi. I remember that the proposal to save money and still compete for prizes while I was doing this caught my attention a lot.
The platform's ease of use won me over when I entered the site. It was quite different from anything I'd used so far in this DeFi universe, which normally doesn't seem to be thought of for the novice user.
What made you stick around?
The people of the community, of course. The interaction with Gustavo and Pedro, in particular. We still form a very small community here in Brazil and I think that brings us together. There is always someone willing to help or clarify any doubts.
How are you involved with the community? Tell us about it.
I started reviewing texts published on Medium, then I started translating texts to be published in the Portuguese Community newsletter, which we created a few weeks ago as part of the Portuguese PoolTogether Community Substack.
In addition, I also contribute what I can to our Discord community and try to help new members understand how PoolTogether works.
But I think the most important thing I've done is trying to show PoolTogether to people in the other communities I'm part of. I was very happy with the reception of the live we held last week, where I had the opportunity to explain to people what PoolTogether is and how users can interact with it.
Would you recommend PoolTogether to others? How would you describe it to them?
Certainly! It's my first recommendation for crypto novices. PoolTogether is one of the few platforms that I nominate without reservation, as there is no fine print or complex details to understand. Just enter the app, deposit and wait for the prizes.
Are you involved in any other projects or communities?
Currently, I dedicate myself a lot to Bankless Brasil, working on several fronts, but mainly with the publication of articles in the newsletter and the reception of new members. I also recently started to engage a little more with a project called Good Morning News, which is a decentralized news platform.
Generally speaking, I try to use all the new protocols that come up in crypto, after all pioneers are usually well rewarded!
We hope you enjoyed the PoolTogether Community Substack in 2021!
