How To Get Involved with the PoolTogether Community
With a profile of Pancake!
As we are finding out again and again, a crypto or blockchain protocol is only as successful as its community. With PoolTogether, we have a warm and supportive community to help you with your investing and PoolTogether journey and also as a way of connecting with people of a similar mindset and to develop new skills and try taking on new responsibilities.
We will share with you a few ways that you can be a part of PoolTogether and also share the story of Pancake, a proud Community Member.
First Steps with the Community
The first way to connect and work with everyone is through the official PoolTogether Discord: https://discord.com/invite/hxPhPDW You can ask questions on the General Server and most importantly, every Friday at 2.45pm EST is the PT Community Call which is open to all and can be accessed by joining the PoolTogether Live Call Section.
Every Friday, Leighton one of the Co-Founders of PoolTogether goes through some of the latest news and updates and people can ask questions and share their thoughts on what is going on. We often have guests from other protocols and brand new members as well. If you go to the Events section of the Discord, you can find the upcoming Community Call and set a reminder there.
On the Discord, we also have channels in many different languages, from Turkish to Italian, Portuguese, German and many more.
You can also get involved with our Reddit page: https://www.reddit.com/r/PoolTogether/ and of course Telegram: https://t.co/kHiYhCltx6?amp=1
On these pages you can learn more and ask questions. On my first visit to the Discord page for example, I asked some basic questions about how everything works and Leighton himself was there answering questions plus, other people tipped me some POOL – the official protocol Token which was completely unexpected and fantastic.
Finally, please be sure to follow the official Twitter account: https://twitter.com/PoolTogether_
You will start to get to know people in the Community – check out the incredible Richard – the heart and soul of our Community!
Some Words From A Community Member
With all this being said, let’s introduce you to Pancake, a key contributor with a lot of crypto experience. He joined PT early on and has seen how everything has grown.
1. Tell us a bit about yourself. Describe yourself in a few words/facts:
Hey everyone! I’m Pancake, a UX/UI designer by day and crypto enthusiast/builder by night.
I joined PoolTogether back in late 2019, when we only had one DAI pool with tiny weekly prizes and look at it now! We have come a long way :) I take care of the Italian community, contribute to the Knowledge base and try to help where I can.
2. How long have you been into crypto?
I bought my first Bitcoin in late 2013 but didn’t look too much into it…after some time I came back in late 2016 after discovering Ethereum and all the cool things that could be built on it just to be swallowed by the ICO boom and seriously entering in crypto with a product mindset, trying to learn and build stuff.
3. Do you want to tell us about the main lessons you have learned since then?
Tokens, projects and money come and go, but the connections that you can make in this space are some of the most valuable that you can make, so go out and talk to anyone, don’t be shy.
4. What was your best crypto moment?
Honestly I’ve been through so many events that it’s really hard to pick one in particular. I believe that the 2018 bear market was a significant moment where all the noise got quiet for a while and got people and buidlers to really focus on building the DeFi projects we all love and use today (like PoolTogether for example).
5. And your biggest fail?
My biggest fail, was to not focus 100% of my time and energy into crypto when I really had the chance. There might be other opportunities in the future, but I consider this a failure for me for not believing enough in what I was passionate about.
6. How did you find out about PoolTogether?
Randomly on Twitter while browsing through my feed. I thought the idea was really good so I sent a message to Leighton and they asked me if I wanted to help.
7. What made you stick around?
The community was really small at first and I felt it was a genuine project not driven by greed and profit. Also, everyone was really nice so I decided to stick around.
8. How are you involved in the community? Tell us about it.
I initially started translating PoolTogether in Italian and helping people on Discord that might have problem depositing or simply understand how the protocol works.
I have also tried to increase the involvement and interest of the Italian community in PT and recently helped creating the Knowledge base, for all the new users that need answers.
9. Would you recommend PoolTogether to others? How would you describe it to them?
I do recommend PoolTogether to everyone new or old in crypto. It is honestly my number one shill that I really feel confident about, simply for the same reasons that got me to stick around.
To my no coiner friends I usually say: “Imagine a lottery that you can play on autopilot every day or every week but you can get your money back whenever you want even if you don’t win.”
10. Are you involved in any other projects or communities?
I’ve been involved in a couple of other projects, but I’ve I have shifted my focus in trying to build my own community around the defiville.finance project.
We like to try new things around crypto, combine protocols and NFT to give life to new projects.
That is all for today please check out the PoolTogether Community Newsletter coming up on Sunday.
