after a prime year for all Poolers and PoolTogether, the last phase of 2023 is here. We’re ending the year with over 54,000 deposits and are getting set up for the next chapter: the PoolTogether hyperstructure.

It’s a busy time for governance and also time for you to use your POOL voting power! After some updates around the protocol, you’ll find out where for:

Did you know you could use your staked Ether in a way that everyone wins? The staked ETH community pool allows you to do exactly that.

Here is the TL;DR:

stETH is pooled together and the rebase becomes the prize
50% of the prize to two random lucky winners. 50% is contributing directly to public goods (currently to givewell.org)

Unluckiest players now on the Pool Explorer ☘️🤕

The Pool Explorer should be a known thing for most Poolers. As the name suggests it’s a tool that allows you to explore the PoolTogether pool.

It does so by visualizing the data that runs through the protocol’s smart contracts and making it accessible for non-technical Poolers like you and me.

Last week, underthesea surprised us with a new feature: Unlucky Poolers. You can now scroll through the bad-luck birds!

Reminder: OP Rewards until Spring 2023 🔴

I’m not sure if you really need to be reminded, but let’s say it one more time & louder for all those in the back: All depositors on Optimism are currently earning additional rewards in the $OP token.

Portals.fi - Swap from any asset into PoolTogether tickets 🎟️

PoolTogether is the front door to DeFi. It’s easy to understand and it’s fun to win! Thanks to Portals it is now easier to use PoolTogether than ever before.

Portals’ promise is to allow one-click access to all of DeFi.

Getting POOL tokens with fiat via Swype or Ondefy 💵

While we’re still on topic for making DeFi more accessible, there is even more good news! Not just one, but two services integrated the POOL token into their fiat onramp solutions.

Ondefy
Ondefy has just introduced its new Smart Ramp feature. With Smart Ramp you can purchase a huuuge variety of tokens directly with fiat. The feature relies on on-ramp services from Transak and matches them with swap routes from 0x, 1inch, and Paraswap DEX aggregators.

That means you can now get POOL using your credit card or bank account! It’s currently live on Polygon and to use it you have to do a one-time KYC verification.

Swype
Swype combines a non-custodial wallet and a bank account. They aim to simplify onboarding and offboarding fiat and crypto for anyone. Get POOL with fiat from your credit card or pay for your morning coffee with POOL - all works!

It’s live Ethereum, Optimism & Polygon (& Bitcoin & Arbitrum). The only drawback is that you need an Apple device to use it.

PTIP-83: PoolTogether V4 DPR Upgrade

The idea of the Draw Percentage Rate was presented to the community almost a year back. Now it’s time to decide whether to upgrade PoolTogether V4 to integrate it!

PTIP-83 is a proposal that installs the Draw Percentage Rate, a module that the PT Inc team has developed that allows the protocol to have large, infrequent prizes.

Team Budget Requests for Q1 2023

Team Budget Requests are requesting budgets for the next quarter from the PoolTogether treasury. These budgets allow the teams to follow their stated purpose and fulfill their goals in contributing to PoolTogether. If you want to see these contributors continue their efforts, please share your vote on their proposals.

Uniswap V3 LM Rewards Update

After a successful test of liquidity mining rewards via Arrakis Finance the Finance Team is here with an update.

Starting in early January the liquidity mining rewards are moving to a V3 prize pool!

A prize pool is more fun and Poolers like prizes! Poolers wanting to participate can add liquidity on Arrakis and will be able to deposit their Arrakis LP tokens to the prize pool for a chance to win the 450 POOL each week. The POOL prize will be split among ten winners. Once it’s live, you will find out in this newsletter.
