Upgrading the Prize Machine 🏆📈

This is a big one, Poolers! The protocol just received a fundamental upgrade. PoolTogether now supports large, infrequent prizes. What does that mean?

Daily Prizes (lots of winners!)
Guaranteed Rewards (currently 6.3% on Optimism)
and infrequent Grand Prizes (thrilling upside)

The headline prize starts at $5,000 and is awarded every 30 days on average. It grows as user deposits and yield increase. Whereas more users usually mean fewer rewards, this is not true for PoolTogether’s prize machine. The more people pool together, the bigger the grand prize can become.

Prize Distribution 🏆🫵

Hand in hand with an additional method of distributing prizes comes a new Prize Distribution. No matter the network all depositors have a chance on winning the Grand Prize. Additionally some pools have many small prizes, while others have fewer but bigger prizes:

Ethereum has the largest prizes but lowest chances of winning
Optimism & Avalanche have medium prizes
Polygon has the smallest additional prizes but more frequent

All networks offer a higher expected return than the yield source (Aave). And if that’s not enough, all Optimism depositors continue to earn OP Rewards. 🤯

PoolTogether Governance 🏛

The PoolTogether protocol is governed by the community of POOL token holders. Our main space for structured discussion and ideation around improving the protocol and its governance is the PoolTogether governance forum.

Protocol Learnings & Looking Forward: The protocol evolves. Leighton outlines PoolTogether Inc’s views on what has been learned in V3 & V4 and what is needed to create a final version that can last as a true hyperstructure for prize savings.
RFC: Sponsoring the stETH pool: Tuna kicked off a conversation to potentially convert DAI into staked ETH, and use a portion of it to sponsor the community pool on stETH.win.
Fixing Coordinape: Community members who contribute to PoolTogether can get compensated through Coordinape. Tjark (dis me) started a discussion to improve our current process.
2022 Treasury Review: Our Finance Team provides a report of the protocol treasury, and shares different scenarios for a potential runway.
