Robotics, NFTs and PoolTogether
PoolTogether Community Interview #31 Anita348
Hello,
Welcome to the latest PoolTogether Community Interview this time featuring another interviewee from Argentina, a very popular location for PoolTogether Community Members!
Tell us a bit about yourself. Describe yourself in a few words/facts:
Hi my name is Anita and I am studying system engineering in Cordoba, Argentina. I love running, doing sports and robotic content. Since I was 8 years I´ve been so in into science and investigations about anthropology and history. I have to admit that I was obsessed with The Holocaust and how Jewish people suffered and still cannot find their place in the world. Apart from that I was also interesting in robotic, when I was young I used to play pretending I was creating new stuff such as houses or robots. In conclusion I was so curious about everything.
Tell us about your robotics projects
I am building a little car that can move in all directions, detects lights and walls and stops immediately. It is not operated with remote controls but is programmed to perform its functions. The program is made with JavaScript. Im still working on that but here’s a little watch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MHVTrNqQEH4I7R-P45XjI12i5Xyu-lkY/view?usp=sharing
How long have you been into crypto? How did you find out about PoolTogether?
It's funny because recently I was saying that I am curious about everything but for some reason crypto currencies never caught my attention. It all starts with my boyfriend Gonzalo who is a smart guy and loves economic topics. One day he came to talk to me about PoolTogether and I told him: “Oh, I hope you don't fall into a pyramid scam”. I didn't pay much attention to him but a few days later we went to a restaurant and he paid everything with crypto and the words that came out mouth were: is this real money? WTF.
I couldn’t believe it I was in shock or maybe I’m a bit dramatic ha-ha. Then Christmas came and he gave me a gift, but not a regular gift, he gave me a gift card and I was like: okey uhm thank you? And he laughed at me and then he explained to, that gift card has $50 on it and I can invest in PoolTogether. Then he taught me how to invest and where are my prices and how much I can win. It took me 2 month to win a prize and was the happiest day of my life, I won 1 dollar haha. After that I start getting involve into translations and I trying to help PoolTogether to grow further.
Do you want to tell us about the main lessons you have learned since then?
The main lesson was: you should always know about everything even if you don't care much. If you find out about a topic that everyone is talking about everywhere, don't overlook it, because you will probably have to learn from the beginning how this new system works.
What was your best crypto moment?
My best crypto moments are: The first one was when I won my first prize of one dollar. The second time was when I start doing translation for the PoolTogether St. Valentine’s campaign and the last moment was when I won a 5 dollar prize!
And your biggest fail?
Well as everyone knows we suffered a monetary slump so my savings broke into 5 pieces but I didn’t lose too much. Anyways I still believe in the Pool protocol.
What made you stick around with PoolTogether? How are you involved in the community? Tell us about it.
I love helping Poolers and giving them translations is something that I really enjoy it. My favorite part was when I have to translate the Saint Valentine campaign we were lot of people involve and we work as a team I love it. Although this past month I was so disappeared because I start second year of college and it’s so hard to keep up with subjects and projects. Hope next month I can get into translation again!
Would you recommend PoolTogether to others? How would you describe it to them?
I have already recommended PoolTogether to many people, and I always try to explain to them how it works and how easily they can understand and use the website.
However, the thing is that there are some concepts like: wallets, crypto, savings, Binance, API that they don't understand so it makes them believe that it is very difficult to understand crypto and that you have to be a professional to invest, but it is not true.
Are you involved in any other projects or communities?
Now I am doing the Newsletters Spanish translations but I would love to be involved into other projects I just don’t have too much time.
What is the situation with cryptocurrency in Argentina? How widely used is this and do your friends and family buy and use this?
Cryptocurrencies are the demon for Argentina´s governance. There are too many taxes for people who buy or use crypto. However, there are more and more places that accept Bitcoin. So far, I have seen 2 places that use the cryptocurrency system. Having high taxes here in Argentina is common, we even learn techniques to be able to get rid of them.
However, cryptocurrencies have helped us to get out or escape from the deplorable financial system that we have. On the one hand, the dollar here has reached 290 pesos, basically our currency no longer serves us, it is completely devalued, crypto is the only thing that allows us to continue, only that very few people have or know about it.
What is your involvement with NFTs? Have you bought any or are considering buying any?
My boyfriend gave me a giftcard for Christmas which was so adorable and sweet. I have to admit that at first, I didn’t like it because I didn’t know what was it but nowadays I always said that this was the best present ever.
In April, my boyfriend and I went to a crypto conference and there were lots of artist promoting their art galleries but not a simple art gallery: it was a NFT art gallery! They taught us about NFTs and how we can sell our paintings and creations. It was interesting and that talk gave me a completely new vision of and for NFTs.
In fact, I’m trying to create my own NFT and sell it and the theme is "People in War./" I have realized through the years that people love to save historical/unique pieces and Holocaust survivors are dying. Imagine being in 2040 and no survivor of this Historical moment would be able to be remembered or heard. I think they deserve an NFT gallery.
What is your biggest dream or interest with Web3? What would you like to explore more of and do?
My biggest dream is privacy. You know there are many videos or private photos circulating around and many people extort or try to get money by publishing them. I think the internet has reached a point where the freedom of the other is not respected.
Unfortunately today 80% of the world knows and uses the internet and there is no way to escape it. Cyberbullying, cancellations, defamation, all are the product of a system that punishes the most defenseless who at that time had no idea what was being done. Millions of people suffer from harassment on the networks and that would have to stop hopefully involving Web3.
Are you involved in any other projects or communities?
Now I am doing the Newsletters Spanish translations but I would love to be involved into other projects I just don’t have too much time.
Do you have any other thoughts and comments you would like to make?
I would love to say that PoolTogether change my life, taught me to save, to participate, to give my opinions, to be more interested in the subject, to be able to have some economic independence and above all it taught me to have another point of view about world commendations and how this can generate a high impact on society.
