PoolTogether Community Interview #38 Sminempepe
Hello,
Welcome to the latest PoolTogether Community Interview with Sminempepe.
Tell us a bit about yourself. Describe yourself in a few words/facts:
Hello everyone, you can call me Sminempepe (Twitter: @sminempepe). I am an engineering student. After discovering cryptocurrencies, I started to take part in community management. Currently, I contribute to many projects in different roles. I am currently a crypto enthusiastic who create content related to cryptocurrencies.
How long have you been into crypto?
I heard about Bitcoin in 2016. At that time, I was not very active in crypto ecosystem until 2019. In 2019, I told myself that this was a new opportunity, I need to be part of it and then I started researching.
I took part in many communities and focused on increasing my knowledge about crypto. I spent most of my time on telegram and discord. I realized that I enjoy chatting with people and want to help them understand the projects’ mission better. Thanks to this, I have been taking place in community management teams since 2019.
Do you want to tell us about the main lessons you have learned since then?
What I say will be very classical, but you should really do your own research before investing in crypto. Because although there are honest people in the market, everyone is trying to make money and they may be promoting scam projects to you :/ .
I have lost because of this. I don't want it to happen to you. It's a really bad feeling. Another thing is that the crypto ecosystem is very dynamic and developing rapidly. You are doing a research on a subject and you think you are competent, but there are new updates in a short time and you need to keep yourself up-to-date by doing research and reading again.
What was your best crypto moment?
Of couse, the return of the investments I made in the bear season to me in the bull season. Making profit is a really good feeling. This may be one of the best opportunities that cryptocurrencies offer to non-tech people. Invest in bear, make profit in bull. But beware of shitcoins :D
And your biggest fail?
Terra-Luna…. I was know that it would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. But I invested in UST and I lost.
How did you find out about PoolTogether?
It was a short time ago that I actually researched PoolTogether and got an idea about the project, thanks to Dework.
What made you stick around?
When I took a look at PoolTogether, I realized that it is one of the few projects that are interested and intertwined with its community. This is an important criterion for a community-oriented person like me. Another point is the extra prizes randomly distributed in addition to the % APY provided.
This really adds excitement to investing and allows me to check the site every day to see if I've won. Of course, it's frustrating to see I didn't win any prize haha.
How are you involved in the community? Tell us about it.
As I said, I am one of the newcomers to PoolTogether. Despite this, I have started to write articles about PoolTogether and already published and article. I contacted Tjark from your Community Managers and talked about contribution to document translations.
Maybe I can contribute to the local community by translating documents. Also participating in community calls held on discord is another point.
Would you recommend PoolTogether to others? How would you describe it to them?
The slogan is :D
Many people have a certain amount of stablecoins in their portfolio and want to earn a passive income from them. If there are prizes in addition this. A golden opportunity. Because everyone loves extra earnings. So extra prizes randomly distributed in addition to the % APY provided on PoolTogether will be a blessing place for them.
Are you involved in any other projects or communities?
As I mentioned earlier, have been taking place in community management teams since 2019. I also work as a translator and writer in many projects. I would like to talk about the projects here, but if I were to talk about all of them, it would be a very long list. While I will mention some, other projects will be offended. These were the things I did as a job. I also contribute to some DAOs in the positions I mentioned above.
Do you have any other thoughts and comments you would like to make?
First of all, thank you for considering me worthy of this interview. I would also like to thank Tjark for his close interest in the community problems and SmartInvestor for inviting me for this interview. Keep up to good work!
Which books would you recommend people read? And why?
I don't read many books these days. I can recommend you this book. The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology by Ray Kurzweil. This is book that evaluates the future of humanity under the guidance of technology and science. It's an excellent resource, albeit an old one, for those interested in popular science and wanting to read about the singularity.
What is your philosophy for having success in life?
If I talk about my philosophy of success, it is accepting personal responsibility for the good and bad choices I make and learning from it. So, you must first make a mistake and learn from it.
Another point is you should try to do the best with what you have. If you understand the values you have and use them, there is always a way to be successful. Do not postpone the work you need to do to the next day and complete it on time. This list goes on like this.
